Revisiting NSHM!
So yeah, I went back to that <strike>hell-hole</strike> temple-of-crazy today. Fell in hate all over again. Seriously how annoying can a teacher get. RS was literally worse than useless. Having to put up with the inefficiency and the random insane behavior of these so-called faculty members was just too much for me today. Felt great that I am finally free of this, its over, and I am gone in 3 days.

Oh yeah have to drop in one more time tommorrow. I seriously dislike this place.

Will be going out with a few friends tomorrow as well, in the evening. I wish someone would treat me for a change.
Went to college today and submitted the project hard copy. The place appeared deserted. Looks like all the juniors are following tradition and have taken self declared summer holidays. Despite all the "defaulting student's list" threats.

Was really pleased to see that BCA 4th sem is just as bad as we were if not worse. Only 4 people were in RS's class today. I bet she misses us secretly, we always did all her classes even if we bunked the other ones. Although we only attended coz we <strike>wanted to suck up to her</strike> loved her.

Anyway I miss orkut. :(

But I am not going back :X . That would be really lame. Turns out it really isnt as addictive as I thought though.

I just always need something to obssess over.

Yesterday SR sir taught us probability at MCA tutins. At the end of the class as his usual practice he discussed JECA and its various facets. Slowly and casually with an almost embarrassed countenance he mentioned the term "manipulations". As per his knowledge, lots of students giving the entrance are involved in using unfair means as a way of cracking the test. By submitting forms together, seats are alloted side by side and students apparently work in a group and copy of of each other. This although depends on the level of gaurd in different centers. Some places it is strict whil in others it is - not! So anyway, he umm adviced students to do "anything" possible that helps them get a super-rank. Also there was something about not buying or submitting application forms on tuesdays and fridays. Acc to sir, bad things happened to people who did that. By bad things he meant really bad results. I know superstitious people still exist in the world, but such an organised matter-of-fact form of it, and believing something so silly, that too a teacher what a bit difficult to digest.
Anyway, this is the only place( Bengal) I have seen where students get excited at the thought of having the option of cheating during exams. How fake can an entrance exam get. Jeez!!!!

Today's quota of nothing!

Had a Perm/Combi class today. Felt so sleepy all through class that I couldnt wait to get home and find a corner to doze off in. After returning, had lunch and then settled down to do the homework sums from P/C. Fell asleep while doing the last one. My brother rudely woke me up after about an hour or so because he wanted to pack since he was going off with his friends to some place called cant-remember-the name-right-now. It was just for the weekend and he would be back on monday I guess. Lucky him.

We got a new fridge today. I know thats not very exciting but considering how dull my life is , lets not even go there.

It ain't a party till some people fall down

I want to watch the Oscars this year. The last one I watched was in 2004. Charlize Theron had been my favourite actress back then even though I have never seen the movie Monster. I used to be a big fan of this movie award thing. I watched everything. Filmfare, Zee, Sahara, Star , Teen's choice, Golden Globe, Emmys, MTV music awards, everything. I used to have <strike>no life</strike> so much time on my hands back then.

Stallone and Schwarzenegger are debuting in Bollywood in the film "Kambakkht Ishq". Guest appearances but still . They really are.. Anyway there is still no hope of Twilight releasing here in India which means it never will release here. DVD will be out March 21st.

I had been reading Aravind Adiga's "White Tiger" recently. The one that won the Booker prize. I think was every bit worthy. I wont say anything about it now though because I need to read it again. I have just read the book once till now which basically means I skimmed and hurried over the entire story to "find out what happens next". I am sorry I can't help it I always read a book for the first time that way. If I like it I read it a second time more slowly and get into the details. If I love it then I re-read the book countless times from cover to cover memorizing minute charater tendencies and dialogues as if my life depends on it .

So today I had college as usual and I went which was kinda unusual since I usually just blow it off. College I mean.

My entry title btw refers to people enjoying a party when there's lots of drinks to go with it. I only hope no one gets concussion that way though.

Goddawful collegedom

Well, so college was the most boring ever . Had just one class today. There were about five of us in class counting the teacher Ms NP. NP is <strike>like </strike><strike>a bat from hell</strike> really annoying. It was miserable. I really miss RS. She is a lot of things but <strike>making me want to kill her</strike> boring isn't one of them. But do we get her this last semester? Noooo becuase suddenly we <strike>have paid all the fees </strike>are not that important anymore, we are like nobody who shouldnt even bother coming to college anymore and no one bothers to give us some decent teachers for the measly two subjects we have for this semester.

Anyway I guess I should have just stayed home today like everyone else did but no, I had to be <strike>dumb</strike> sincere. Won't be so <strike>stupid</strike> diligent next time around.

I ought to get back to my mca entrance exam preps . They are going ok for now.
A passage in time that is two days long!

So, yesterday college reopened again. About 12-14 students showed which was kinda suprising since generally for even semesters most people dont tend to come to college on the first day. Anyway with this average strengh we had classes as usual. We have only two theoy subjects this semester, the rest of the credits is divided between a major project, a seminar and viva. I had expected the routine for this semester to be filled with holidays but the clever little people of NSHM had managed to fill up the entire 10-5 from monday to friday timings in innovative ways. About 20-24 hrs per week has been dedicated to the major project, there is a lab class although we have no lab exams in particular, and there is the dreaded CQ classes which they put in rather gloatingly I suppose.

Anyway, today I bunked college( I was sick common) and spent all day doing Maths.( Determinants).

Well, today was definitely not one of the better days of my life. Did get some work done though. Went to college and paid of the last remaining fees and came back home. Then I called my beloved coaching center and scheduled an aptitude test for tommrow.

I cant think of anything more to say except that, 12th jan my college re-opens and theer's nothing like looking forward to something so delightful.

The day after

Okay. I suppose its back to the grindstone now. No rest for the student. I had a ton of things to do today which included calling up Pegasus ( MCA entrance tutorial centre I joined recently because apparently I had nothing better to do) to find out about my next class timings, call up the college to find out about fees, when new session starts etc etc as well as "get my affairs back in order" again. Needless to say that I did none of these things and instead prefered to get up really late, avoid all phone calls from people enquiring about stuff related to what I mentioned above, lounge around on the sofa reading perry mason and spend some time on my laptop re-watching the movie "Slumdog Millionare". That movie did not impress me at all inspite of the good things I had heard about it.

And so the day ended with nothing at all getting done, I am such a lazy person.

God's own city

Just got back from a trip to varanasi today. A 5-day tirtha . Let me just say though, the trains of India are getting worse by the day and anybody attempting to enjoy a train journey across the country are only setting themselves up for disappointment. No Lie.

Anyway we put up at a place (that was so far away from the ghats that it was almost void of other people) for our stay in Varanasi and managed to be reasonably comfortable there. The first thing about the city that hits you is the complete state of chaos the roads seem to be in. Firstly there are no side walks , no signals, and apparently no rules to follow. Secondly the people driving around seem to have an utter disregard for their own lives or yours. The streets are overcrowded with people on foot, autorickshaws, rickshaws, cycles, bikes, and other forms of vehicles and they are going in all directions any way they can like one big happy family. Its a wonder there are no accidents all over the place over here. They say that in Kashi Avatars of God are present and anyone who dies here becomes free from the cycle of rebirth and attains God. I suppose these people believe in that a bit all to seriously. Seeing them driving around certainly feels like it.

Also, looking at the hordes of cows and buffaloes roaming around in the middle of traffic like they are part of it is a bit disconcerting. I even saw an elephant walk by once complete with a houda as well as a horse or two. No Joke. There was also this donkey that used to sleep outside out hotel every night. I swear it was an open zoo out there. This one time , we were on a rickshaw and we got stuck behind a cow, the man guiding the rickshaw actually put out his hand and pushed the cow out of the way.

Anyway, moving on, I suppose now that I am back home in one piece I can afford to look back and think pleasantly about varanasi . I guess I do think well of it, there is a bit of, idk , warmth there. The people are actually kind of nice and not completely obsessed with money like the people of some other places I have been to,(cough*goa*cough) . But the temple visits are indescribable and not in a good way.
More later.
